Throwback Thursday: Don Cherry’s unwittingly ironic speech at Rob Ford’s inaugural council meeting
“
“Rob’s honest, he’s truthful…I say he’s going to be the greatest mayor this city has ever seen as far as I’m concerned. And put that in your pipe you left-wing kooks.”
—Hockey commentator and sartorial risk-taker Don Cherry at Rob Ford’s inaugural council meeting back in 2010. As Ford’s special guest, Cherry appalled many councillors and Torontonians by using the solemn occasion as an opportunity to blast “left-wing pinkos.” In retrospect, an ironically prophetic choice of words.
Don Cherry is a dumb-ass.
I never laughed so hard.
Bam in your face Neo-cons!
you got that right. My Canada does not include loudmouth fucktwits.
What was Cherry smoking?
His worship? That’s what you call him? Bow down to the mighty crackhead!
Just an irrelevant aside – the fabric Don Cherry’s jacket is made of was sold at Fabricland – .
3:09 – “put that in your pipe”… hahahah
Don Cherry, the jerk in the pink suit.
The people who think Don Cherry is the greatest man in Canada are the same people who voted for Rob Ford. Look where it got us.
How is it that this befuddled old man from Mississauga was allowed to talk in our city hall?
Well Don. Rob certainly put something in his pipe and smoked it didn’t he?
This clown has egg on his face !!!
It’s not all about cutting taxes. It’s about leadership and Toronto does not have a leader.
Well, folks, they say you get the government you deserve. Somebody elected Doug Ford. Yes, Doug Ford. Rob is just the mouthpiece; Doug calls the shots. And as far as the alcoholism, public drunkenness and abusiveness, and illegal drug use goes, I wouldn’t care except that all this clearly shows the mayor is incompetent. But far, far more serious than all the lies about his personal life are such lies as “I have saved the City $1 billion.” Serious because, apparently, a lot of people believe it. We have all the proof we need to show that Ford’s claims about his fiscal management are just as much lies as the lies about his personal life. It’s just that the media has done a pathetic job of bringing those far more important facts to the attention of the public.
