Who: Rimi Lala, 26 What she does: She’s a business analyst at an educational games company and the owner of Wealth Savvy Gen Z, a personal finance platform What she makes: $103,000 a year Where she lives: A two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in South Eglinton–Davisville, which she shares with a roommate

Regular Expenses

Rent: $1,600 a month. “Living alone in Toronto is very expensive—I need a roommate to save money.”

Internet: $40 a month with Rogers. “My roommate and I split this too.”

Hydro: $25 a month. “And this.”

Cell: $38 a month with Public Mobile. “I’m always looking for deals to bring this down.”

Groceries: $180 a month. “I like to go to New Asafo Market at Albion and Islington for African ingredients.”

Presto: $50 a month. “I take the subway twice a week to get to the office and the bus to get to church on Sundays.”

Uber: $70 a month. “This is for visiting friends outside the city or big grocery hauls.”

Clothing: $60 a month. “I like Zara for work clothes.”

Beauty: $110 a month. “Sephora is my go-to brand for skin care products.”

Takeout: $50 a month. “Scotty Bons Caribbean Grill at Keele and Wilson, Pai, and McDonald’s are my staples.”

Treats: $20 a month. “I don’t dine out at restaurants much, but I love XO Gelato on Mount Pleasant and Mizzica on Queen West.”

Entertainment: $30 a month. “I’m definitely a movie person, so my Scene Plus card comes in handy.”

Gym: $62 a month. “My building gym has been under construction for ages, so I go to GoodLife.”

Subscriptions: $50 a month. “I’ve got Netflix, Amazon Prime, CapCut and Kindle.”

Giving back: $120 a month. “I try to send money home to Nigeria. I also just donated to the Cancer Research Institute.”
