Who: Deidre Cross, 39 What she does: She’s an actor, a bartender and the owner of Ohh You Budget, a financial planning platform What she makes: $264,000 Where she lives: A one-plus-den condo in West Queen West

Regular Expenses

Mortgage: $2,097 a month. “I used to rent this place for $1,664. My landlord was having money problems, so I bought it off him in April for $465,000.”

Hydro: $60 a month.

Phone and internet: $97 a month with Rogers. “Every Boxing Day, no matter how low my bill is, I call my provider to see if I can get a better deal.”

Subscriptions: $62 a month for the Peloton app. “This is my only monthly subscription. I’ve been burned by not keeping up with others, which put me into overdraft.”

Gas: $120 a month. “I tend to drive a lot for work and to visit my grandma in Brampton.”

Parking: $130 a month.

Pet care: $610 a month. “Douglas is my 11-year-old cockapoo, and he’s quite pricey. I’ve spent $4,882 on him this year—a lot of that on his walker and trainer.”

Groceries: $145 a month. “Prices have increased, but the flyers at Metro and Food Basics are an easy way to find deals.”

Takeout: $160 a month. “My go-to spots include Monkey Sushi and Eat BKK Thai Kitchen.”

Dining out: $100 a month. “I like spots close by, like Bar Poet or Gloria in the Great Hall.”

Beauty: $521 a month. “I recently got an IV drip, a massage and a pedicure. Shoppers is great for body wash and lotion. And I particularly like anything from Sephora.”

Charity: $338 a month. “I recently donated to a family escaping Gaza. I’ve also given to the Stop Community Food Centre and the Parkdale Community Food Bank.”

Cousin’s baby shower: $500. “I couldn’t attend, so I sent the money in a card.”

Fancy water bottle: $120. “This is not normal for me, but I just bought a HidrateSpark smart bottle off Amazon. It lights up to remind you when you’re behind on your water intake. I’ve been drinking more because of it.”
