Regular Expenses

Rent: $1,950 a month. “I used to live with a roommate and paid $1,244. But the privacy is worth the extra rent.”

Hydro: $55 a month.

Internet: $54 a month with Virgin Plus.

Cell: $4.50 a month with Freedom Mobile. “My work covers the rest of it.”

Groceries: $130 a month. “I love shopping at FreshCo and No Frills. Finding deals is actually a thrill for me.”

Eating out: $85 a month. “When I’m not cooking, I like Spring Sushi near Yonge and Dundas and hot pot with friends.”

Travel: $200 a month. “In the summer, my boyfriend and I go on day trips. We’ve been to Prince Edward County, London, Guelph and Pinery Provincial Park in Grand Bend.”

Subscriptions: $39 a month. “I have YouTube Premium and pay monthly for additional iCloud storage.”

Savings: $1,500 a month. “My goal is to save up $100,000 for a rainy day. I have less than $10,000 to go.”

Rains toiletry bag: $73. “I had my eye on this for a while. I didn’t need it, but I love it.”

Home decor: $150. “I bought some new prints off Etsy and some odds and ends for my kitchen.”

Road trip and wedding: $1,600. “My boyfriend and I drove to Pittsburgh last June. Then we flew to Alberta to see my family and attend a wedding.”
