Rex Harrington, former principal dancer of the National Ballet of Canada and its current artist-in-residence, announced his engagement to his partner of six years, software company owner Robert Hope. The engagement happened in France last month, and the wedding is set for next summer.
The news came today via press release (conveniently timed to Harrington’s return to the stage as Prince Gremin in Onegin this June) with a media contact “for more information”—that there’s a media spokesperson for an engagement announcement tickles us. It’s not the first time that the National Ballet has issued pressers regarding the personal affairs of its dancers; announcements for marriages, births, births and more births make it feel like a family newsletter. We’re not complaining—it’s like having our own version of the New York Times’ weddings/celebrations section.
