Every day it becomes harder to believe that Ryan Gosling was once an apple-cheeked Mouseketeer. If there’s anyone working overtime to shed the nice-guy Canadian stereotype, it’s the Almighty Goz. As Sergeant Jerry Wooters (what kind of a name is that?) in The Gangster Squad, he is the epitome of bad boy: setting money on fire, shooting up what seems like dozens of people, and doing a lot of cock-eyed staring while uttering one-liners worthy of Robert De Niro. But he does call Emma Stone “Ma’am” in a brazen request to sleep with her. It’s nice to know he’s still got his manners.
