A New Jersey boy asks Justin Bieber to the prom—not as a date, as a friend

When a gentleman caller comes knocking at the door on prom night, certain things are expected to happen: a dance or two (at the very least), perhaps a swig from a smuggled flask (for the more adventurous) and some other firsts (if those firsts haven’t happened already). New Jersey native Leon Purvis took to YouTube in a rather obnoxious fashion over the summer, urging Justin Bieber to go to the prom with him—not as a date, as a friend. The New Jersey boy still refuses to give up, and two days after Christmas, on something called “International Trending Day,” he plans to take to Twitter to get Bieber’s attention (the Biebz is a prolific tweeter in his own right). In one of his early videos, Purvis claims many times that he is not gay and would just like to take advantage of the Biebz’s gaggle of female followers. At one point, he tells Bieber that they can “jerk together,” which we imagine is some kind of dancing we have yet to experience. Given Bieber’s recent statement that he and Selena Gomez are not engaged, there’s really nothing getting in the way of this happening. We wish Purvis—and the Biebz—the best of luck.
