St. Joseph Media acquires Torontoist

St. Joseph Media, Canada’s largest privately owned consumer magazine publisher, is proud to announce today the addition of award-winning Web site Torontoist.com to its media family.

Founded in 2004, Torontoist has become a highly respected on-line-only news source serving the city of Toronto. Among its many accolades, last year Torontoist was the first digital-only publication in Canada to win a National Magazine Award.

St. Joseph Media president Douglas Knight said, “We are delighted to welcome Ken Hunt and Torontoist.com to St. Joseph Media. Torontoist has demonstrated that high standards and an intense local focus on all that makes Toronto fascinating and frustrating and a great place to live builds a strong and loyal following.”

Torontoist’s publisher Ken Hunt explains, “St. Joseph Media is the perfect home for Torontoist. It is a company where we will be able to retain the independent streak that makes Torontoist great, while having the support we need to grow and flourish. I couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.”

St. Joseph Media also owns Toronto Life.
