One Redditor combed Twitter to build a surprisingly vivid account of the Scarborough shooting
This morning, Police Chief Bill Blair briefed the media about last night’s gun fight in Scarborough that killed two and left 21 others with gunshot wounds. He confirmed that two shooters began firing at each other around 10:40 p.m., sending a block party near Morningside and Lawrence into chaos. Blair also said there are “strong indications” that gangs were involved and that the threat of retaliations is high. Those looking for more details may want to consult this incredibly detailed account of the night, pieced together by a Redditor who scoured Twitter for relevant tweets. As the user points out, the information in the tweets can’t all be verified; however, the account forms a clearer picture of whose party it was, what happened, who was hurt—and why retaliatory shootings seem likely. What happened in Scarborough is surprisingly not surprising. Wake up: Toronto is a very dangerous city chock full of ruthless gangs that think nothing of pulling out a pistol and shooting folks boldly. Nothing feels better to me than jumping on the GO each night to Burlington. I would NEVER live in Toronto again.
I wish everyone was like the poster above. Then maybe housing prices would fall a bit and make Toronto affordable.
I am white and live in a middle class Scarborough neighbourhood and I have a white son in his early 20’s and NOTHING has ever happened to us.
The only dangerous areas are the public housing areas.
Come on, I’m sure you are smarter than that – to make a blanket statement that ALL of Toronto is dangerous. That makes you sound ignorant.
Tell the truth, you live in Burlington because you can’t AFFORD a house in T.O.
Your make Toronto sound like Detroit. If it was so dangerous, the average Toronto house wouldn’t be going for 3/4 of a million.
You sound like a paranoid schizoid.
