Rob Ford giving city money to a family-owned business is apparently a victory for taxpayers

Somehow Rob Ford seems to be transforming a story about how he funnelled city money into his family-owned business into yet another tale of his famous (or infamous) fiscal conservatism. Yesterday we noted that the Ford family business, Deco Labels and Tags, has been printing the mayor’s business cards—and charging up to four times as much as the city does to do the very same thing. However, now it looks like Ford will be paying for the fancy business cards out of his own pocket, and in the process, somehow declaring victory for city taxpayers. Of course, the obvious question is whether he would be doing so if nobody (read: the Toronto Star) had noticed his bizarre expense filings. Read the entire story [Globe and Mail] »
