Rob Ford: regular guy, and owner of “like six” condos in Florida

Rob Ford gets a lot of political mileage out of his man-of-the-people image, so one has to wonder what his tax-averse, anti-elitist supporters might make of the fact that he claims to own “like six” condos in Florida. The mayor said as much during a Thursday appearance on The Sports Junkies, a Washington D.C. radio show that has been making local news on a regular basis ever since Ford, for reasons known only to him, started favouring it with weekly call-in appearances. What, you don’t have five backup condos and a family cottage in Muskoka? Get a job.
The one of many things I love about Toronto is how funny the mayor is!
Drop it already. If you’re going to say something about the man, may it be political. Otherwise mind your business. No one is asking what you do on your own private time and money! Give it and Toronto a rest already…..last years news.
He says he is a man of the people. A regular guy. He gets elected on this characterization of himself. And, he happens to own 6 condos in Florida. This story is political. They are clearly pointing out the hypocrisy, and the fraud that Rob Ford is.
I deeply disagree with people who say that the Media need to “drop it”. As stated in the above story, Mr. Ford benefits from a self-promoted image of himself as a regular Joe. A huge part of that assumed “regularness” is in respect to his financial position. I have watched him say that he is sick of rich people and that he is fighting for the little guys like him. It has always frustrated me that he says such things without actually being a little guy. He is also not someone who raised himself up by his own bootstraps as he often promotes. Given that these messages are intended by Ford himself to be politically useful it is not (for me) an issue if the media dissuades or challenges them. Indeed that is what the media is for.
Instead of owning 6 condos he should spend some money and get his teeth fixed :)
I wonder if RoFo will be able to enjoy his Florida condos. How is it that a self-professed smoker of “tons of marijuana” and crack cocaine, along with a Florida DUI conviction and marijuana possession charge, would be allowed admittance to the US?
Rob Ford does not care about Toronto.
Catch a clue! Ford himself pushes himself in front of the cameras to state the most innocuous nonsense. If this Mayor who has vied for cuts to effective youth programs, voted against assistance to drug addiction recovery programs, and other assistance to the less privileged, puts himself out there as a working class stiff- the press NEEDS to publicize the TRUTH. If you don’t like the press having freedoms to present FACTS, move to Russia, idiot.
The crack will just destroy whatever he does, besides, I’m sure he uses his image for his ‘working class stiff’ image.
Good point.
Last year was 2 weeks ago. Police responded to two 911 calls to Fords house for domestic disputes and observed that Renata Ford had new and old injuries on her arms. What are the chances that these were the only two occasions? Is this part of the private life you are referring to? Defending this pig truly makes one look small.
he has no political agenda, it’s just a fake “regular guy” show. So you drop it already. Inform yourself or give your mouth a rest
If there weren’t another dozen career-enders in his past, this would be it. McCain’s houses stopped his presidential campaign in its tracks. Convict Black has been laughed off stage, time to give the hook to the clown Ford show. We don’t need the rich, entitled, and clueless to tell the rest of us what to do.
Rob Ford….’Regular Guy’ or regularly lies?
I’ll go with the second.
I don’t disagree, but I do think if some people keep going after him for the more inconsequential things, it’s going to start giving the impression of railroading, even if that’s not the case.
I mean, it bugs me when more is said about his crack cocaine scandal than all the other egregious things he’s on record for having said and done that are much more problematic. Not saying it’s good to have a mayor who abuses hard drugs, as he is supposed to be a public official and role model, but I find his many racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. comments, attitudes, actions much, much worse, yet strangely even Rob Ford’s most vocal detractors seem more interested in talking up his drug abuse. Also, I don’t like the ‘victim-blaming’ aspect of the coverage of his addiction issues: I may not like Rob Ford, or agree with most anything he says or does, but to mock Rob Ford’s addiction issues is to also mock every addict’s struggles.
That being said, I do think it’s fair to point out that Ford’s ‘man of the people’ image is a myth, because he tends to play on those working class sympathies in order to garner support and votes, because he’s trying to get them to identify with him.
You daft twats. The fact that he owns ‘like 6 condos’ works in his FAVOUR with Ford Nation. It makes him someone they look up to: ‘the regular guy that’s succeeding’ despite all the lefties who want to take all their money in taxes.
