Rob Ford hospitalized with kidney stones, still answering his phone

This afternoon the mayor’s office announced that Rob Ford had been hospitalized with kidney stones. While he’s said to be in some pain, the mayor’s press secretary Adrienne Batra says it’s “nothing serious” and he’s getting outpatient treatment. “He is still returning phone calls, he is still talking to constituents and he is still open for business,” she told reporters. “For anyone who has had kidney stones, it can be kind of painful but I can assure you that this is nothing serious and it’s being treated.”

Wait—he’s still answering his phone? During the campaign, Nick Kouvalis couldn’t get Ford to stop answering his cell, and it seems like neither can searing pain. Even we’re impressed by that. If we were in Ford’s position, we would probably just ask the person on the other end of the line for more codeine.
