“Together with the women who support them, these fine mo bros and mo sistas start conversations about men’s health, raise much needed funds and dedicate themselves to the appreciation of fine moustachery.”

That’s Mayor Rob Ford proclaiming November to be Movember in Toronto. The month-long, porno-esque Movember is a time when men grow moustaches to help attract donations for the fight against prostate cancer. We assume most participants tell potential donors that the faster the fight is won, the faster they’ll shave the thing off.

The deadpan prose of mayoral proclamations can make them pretty funny, especially when Ford is announcing things like Bob Marley Day. But this proclamation, with talk of “fine moustachery,” might just take the cake. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing some serious of ‘staches around city hall, as well as the inevitable banter that comes along with facial hair.
