Rob Ford, who is no fan of the many rules that govern politicians’ behaviour during election periods, was, according to the Globe, asked to leave one of the city’s advance polling stations on Thursday for speaking to voters there and taking pictures with them. The reason election officials took the ailing mayor’s visit so seriously is that the Municipal Elections Act forbids politicians from campaigning in any voting location. (Specifically, the act says that “no person shall attempt, directly or indirectly, to influence how [an] elector votes” while they’re in or near a voting place.) Jeff Silverstein, spokesperson for Doug Ford’s campaign, told the Globe that Rob was “not doing anything inappropriate.”

There are no consequences for the Fords so why wouldn’t they continue to cheat the system to win?
Come on. Every high-profile politician is photographed and video taped by media when they cast their ballot. If a person asked for a photo or to shake his hand, was he expected to ignore them? The law is designed to prohibit campaigning- like signs, asking for votes, etc. Having a conversation or taking a photo seems to me to be a stretch.
Except Rob Ford wasn’t at the polling station to cast his ballot. He was there to campaign. How do you know he wasn’t asking people for votes or handing them campaign cards?
I think this is all a bit ridiculous and Ford-mongering, but the the Toronto Life article doesn’t mention that Ford already made his advance vote earlier in the week.
The media has broken every rule in the book favouring in their countless reports their favourite for Mayor-john tory.
recent example.. cp24 interviews a 101 year old who just happens to be a john tory supporter..no examples of olivia or doug supporters in same report..(which was repeated a hundred times yesterday and picked up by the star)

Actually I think he did cast his ballot. I read that in one version of the story anyway.
My mistake then if I’m wrong but I assumed that except for City Hall, people were supposed to vote in their own ward’s advance poll.
We know that he wasn’t there to vote. Reporters watched him cast his advance ballot on Tuesday.
He must have been escorting an elderly cousin to the polls then since Rob’s a “law and order” kind of guy and not the kind of guy to break the rules. Ever.

Rules are made for ordinary people- not for an obese crack doer like Rob Ford. Who knows? Maybe he was there to score.
I’ve seen many pieces that highlight Ford and Chow separately. Not every piece has to speak to all three of them. Especially on CP24 which is basically a time-filler. Your comment is not intelligent.
He showed up at three different voting stations days AFTER he cast his ballot in Ward 2. The one mentioned in this article is the Driftwood one which is nowhere near his Etobicoke one. The Fords keep breaking all political rules on a Tammany Hall level. Toronto needs better these asshats.
