Isn’t Rob Ford already essentially already a one-man reality show? Regardless, the Globe reports that Pilgrim Studios, the production company behind quality documentary-ish television shows like Swamp Pawn, Dirty Jobs and this Lindsay Lohan miniseries would like to add the mayor of Toronto to its stable of fame-seeking weirdos.

All we know at this point is that the company sent an email to Ford requesting a meeting. Neither Ford’s office nor Pilgrim Studios has said whether or not a show is actually in the works. The Fords already host their own YouTube show, and Doug Ford once claimed that he and his brother had turned down reality-TV overtures from the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Phil (although Oprah’s television network, at least, has denied ever approaching the brothers with an offer).

Given what’s known about Rob Ford’s family—they’re rich, some of them have criminal histories, and Doug Ford’s wife and daughters are really into fitness and bodybuilding—this hypothetical TV show would probably be unmissable, but it seems unlikely ever to come to fruition. The mayor has always been ill-at-ease in front of cameras. The only real advantages to doing this would be money and notoriety, both of which he already has plenty of. On the other hand, he did go on Kimmel, so you never know.
