“I love the city of Toronto, it is my home. I am seriously considering running for mayor, but have not made a decision.”

Olivia Chow on Thursday, updating reporters on the status of her mayoral ambitions. Her eventual entry into the fray is considered to be a foregone conclusion. (She’s releasing a memoir later this month, which is something politicians sometimes do prior to making big career moves.) Interestingly, “I am seriously considering running” seems to be becoming a little bit of a cliché. TTC Chair Karen Stintz used those exact words before announcing that she’d be running for mayor, and councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong, another potential mayoral candidate, has also been trotting them out. John Tory’s statements have been similarly noncommittal.
