QUOTED: Canada Post CEO says cancelling home delivery will get seniors exercising

“The seniors are telling me, ‘I want to be healthy. I want to be active in my life.’ They want to be living fuller lives.”

-Canada Post CEO Deepak Chopra, telling the House of Commons’ transport committee all about the possible health benefits of making old people walk to communal boxes to pick up their mail. Canada Post announced last week that it plans to end home delivery for all Canadians over the course of the next five years. The move is one of several cost-saving measures planned by the crown corporation as part of an effort to bring its expenses in line with plummeting demand.
