If there was any doubt that the police investigation into Rob Ford was going to yield more than just information about his time spent doing suspicious things with unsavoury friends, the Star’s cop sources seem to want to put it to rest. The paper reports that the same detectives that probed the mayor’s involvement with his friend Sandro Lisi are investigating a video that shows the mayor making graphic death threats against an unspecified person—in fact, according to the Star, police have been looking into the video ever since it was made public in November. We already knew that “Project Brazen 2” was ongoing, but we didn’t know this.

The news is especially interesting in light of Kathy Ford’s ex-husband Scott MacIntyre’s pending lawsuit against Rob Ford, in which he claims that the video depicts the mayor planning a brutal jailhouse assault intended to prevent MacIntyre from publicizing Ford’s substance-abuse issues. Ford has denied involvement, but, considering some of his other denials, it’s likely that much of the public won’t be satisfied until the authorities have weighed in.
