Brampton’s mayor is now under police scrutiny, too

The CBC reports that Susan Fennell, the Brampton mayor whose 265 breaches of her city’s own spending rules were recently detailed in an audit by Deloitte, now shares an important distinction with Rob Ford: police involvement. During a meeting this afternoon, Brampton’s city council voted in favour of forwarding the audit, which also details suspect spending by some councillors, to police. The move doesn’t guarantee criminal charges (presumably the Peel Regional Police will decide for themselves whether to pursue matters), but it certainly reflects terribly on Fennell, who, like Ford, faces an election in October.
