We doubt there were many waiting for this announcement, but here it is anyway. The National Post is reporting that Denzil Minnan-Wong is not, repeat not, entering the race for mayor. Ol’ DMW, one of David Miller’s fiercest critics on city council, will instead be running for re-election in Ward 34.

It may seem like something out of Monty Python to report news that isn’t happening (we also hear Francisco Franco is still dead), we do think it’s a shame that Minnan-Wong won’t be running. Not just because one more bombastic councillor facing off for the suburban vote is inherently amusing to us, but because we were charmed when Minnan-Wong announced last year that he was learning to ride a bike at age 45.
