Man fined $25,000 for saying “fuck Brooklyn”

What is the exact price, in U.S. dollars, of publicly expressing disdain for a borough of New York City as an NBA general manager? Now we know. Masai Ujiri, GM of the Toronto Raptors, has been fined $25,000 by the league for saying “fuck Brooklyn” during a fan event in Maple Leaf Square, prior to game one of the Raptors’ playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets. The fine came despite Ujiri’s grudging halftime apology: “You know how I feel. I don’t like them. I apologize.” While unsportsmanlike, the incident has fired up the local fan base, and is being interpreted by some suspicious commentators as a deliberate attempt to build a more badass brand for a team still struggling to make the best of its embarrassing, aubergine-coloured past.
Game two against the Nets will take place on April 22, at the Air Canada Centre, at 7:30 p.m. It’s a best-of-seven series, so latecomers still have at least a week to jump on the bandwagon.
Just imagine the windfall if the rest of Canada was fined every time they said “Fuck Toronto”.
F people with no sense of humour.
“Man fined…”? People in Toronto don’t know who Masai Ujiri is? You couldn’t have even put “Raptors GM”? It seems terribly disrespectful. Also, just a terribly written article. There are more commas then sentences! I know it’s just a quick sports article, but you can do better than this.
Id assume the reasoning behind this is to get people to click on the article. If it were “Raptors GM (or Masai Ujiri) fined $25,000…” then the actual article adds very little value to the headline. Jut my 2 cents anyway!
Actually, it was just supposed to highlight the amazingness of anyone, regardless of position, being fined the cost of a new car for saying “fuck.”
I believe you mean to say: “There are more commas than sentences.” I suppose if you intend to criticize the writer of this particular article on their ability to write, you should, at the very least, attempt to understand the difference between ‘then’ and than’.
