Giorgio Mammoliti says it’s about time Toronto became its own province

City councillor and perpetual distraction from real issues Giorgio Mammoliti thinks the City of Toronto should consider separating from the province of Ontario. Mammoliti told the Toronto Sun that Hogtown would wield more power over things like childcare funding and infrastructure if it were an independent province. Mammoliti’s not the first one to toss out this idea either. Mayor Mel Lastman considered secession in 1999, but acknowledged in 2000 that it wasn’t possible. Mammoliti also appears to be a mind reader, prefacing his comments with: “I know people think it’s a joke.” Read the entire story [Toronto Sun] »
