Good news for Rob Ford scandal watchers: a group of media lawyers has scored a victory in their court battle to obtain a 500-page document police used to get a search warrant for Ford’s friend and alleged drug dealer Alexander “Good Guy” Lisi. Reporters hope the document, portions of which could be released as soon as Thursday at 9:30 a.m., will contain intel about whether Ford was mixed up in the police investigation. It’s certainly possible that he was: in the past few months, Lisi reportedly tried to trade pot for the mayor’s stolen phone and track down the alleged crack video. Ford also wrote a letter of support for Lisi for a sentencing last June. Still, there’s a chance the juiciest bits could be left out. The Crown will redact any sections not part of the “essential narrative” of the criminal investigation that led to Lisi’s arrest. [Toronto Star]
