Did the Kardashians steal the idea for their magazine from a Toronto company?

After Fashionista broke the story that the Kardashians were receiving pitches for their potential magazine from Toronto-based digital media company Communiqis, we talked with founder Brian Rushton Phillips, who told us he had actually pitched a Kardashian-themed mag to Kris Jenner and the William Morris Agency on December 15, just three weeks before news broke that the spotlight-loving family was talking to American Media Inc. about producing an all-Kardashian glossy.  “I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but it does seem fishy,” he said. We have to admit that the timing is odd, but we can’t imagine that Kim and her media-savvy clan hadn’t already considered the move into mags. Sex-tape ingenue to QuickTrim shill to reality star to magazine editor—isn’t that the career path our guidance counsellor suggested?
