Justin Bieber is a mama’s boy

Justin Bieber recently released a timely Mother’s Day ode: “Turn to You,” a song for his mom, Patricia Lynn Mallette. Try as we might to hold onto the Biebz’s cultivated good boy, perpetually prepubescent image, he’s making it very difficult for us—there has been a push for Biebz 2.0 branding in this week’s cringe-worthy The Voice performance, in which he drowns helplessly in the MJ/Timberlake image he’s crafted for himself. Thankfully, because “Turn to You” is for Mama Biebz, the song has moments of early Bieber: he’s sweet and wholesome, and there’s nary a PG-13 reference. The airy-fairy ballad details Mallette’s struggle to deal with teenage pregnancy, which is kind of hard to be snarky about. We raise a Mother’s Day mimosa to you, Mallette. You’ve done well for yourself.
