Hilary Weston, former lieutenant-governor of Ontario and wife of Galen Weston (of Loblaw fame) has topped the list of Ireland’s richest people for the fourth year in a row— though she doesn’t really live there or anything. The Sunday Times says the Westons’ wealth adds up to about $9 billion (though Forbes recently pegged it at $7.6 billion), a tidy sum in any country, but Ireland has claimed her as their own since Weston was born in Dublin. Weston managed to beat out some of the country’s most famous names like the beer-swilling Guinness family (number 5 on the list with $1.3 billion) and U2, who came in 10th with just under $1 billion. We hope Bono doesn’t take the news too hard. See the entire list [Sunday Times] »
