Even if Rob and Doug Ford both get elected this month (Rob, remember, is now running for city council), they may not stay in office for long. According to the Globe, activist Jude MacDonald is suing the mayor and his brother for allegedly violating the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act when they participated in council debates on matters related to clients of their family company, Deco Labels and Tags. MacDonald’s allegations stem from a series of Globe investigations into the Ford brothers’ attempts to win preferential treatment for companies that do business with Deco. The court case definitely won’t be settled before the election, but if MacDonald wins, the Fords could both be removed from office—just like Rob almost was two years ago when another activist sued him for pretty much the same thing.
