Subway riders were treated to a little Big Brother action this morning, courtesy of the mayor’s office. David Miller, stepping up the battle with the province over TTC  funding (in the most polite, Torontonian way imaginable), came on the public address system at Bloor-Yonge station to remind passengers that Queen’s Park has delayed $4 billion in funds for the Transit City development. We were on the platform but, not expecting genteel agitprop from the mayor over the PA, didn’t have our recording device at the ready. In the announcement, Miller reinforced his belief that Transit City is now in jeopardy and gently suggested that riders should be irked about it and should contact their MPP or the premier’s office with their complaints.

Mr. McGuinty, we await your response on the commute home.
