A GTA woman is accused of stealing $60,000 in fake apartment rental deposits
She’s been charged with 38 counts of fraud over $5,000 and one count of obstructing police
Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old Brampton woman who allegedly defrauded rental tenants of more than $60,000.
According to police, the woman advertised apartments for rent using social media. Between May 2025 and February 2026, she allegedly collected first and last months’ rent from 17 tenants after having them sign rental agreements. When the tenants’ scheduled move-in dates arrived, they discovered the apartments were not actually available.

In a media release, police noted the alleged fraud victims had vacated their previous residences, believing they had secured new apartments to move into. None of them received reimbursements for their rental deposits.
