Condo of the Week: $2 million for a penthouse atop one of Toronto’s tallest towers
Address: 388 Yonge Street, Unit 7708
Neighbourhood: Bay Street Corridor
Agents: Danny Lai and Amy M.W. Hui, Tradeworld Realty Inc., Brokerage
Price: $1,959,000
The Place: A southeast-facing penthouse atop one of North America’s tallest residential buildings.
Big Selling Point: The unit has ultra-luxurious finishes, including Italian-marble counters, heated bathroom floors, a chic limestone fireplace and expensive appliances. There are also snazzy amenities, like a fifth-floor garden and an 18-seat screening room. The Madonna-owned Hard Candy gym is located in the building’s podium.
Bragging Rights: This unit is on the 77th floor of 78-floor Aura at College Park, which is the fourth tallest building in Toronto and the fifth tallest residential building in North America, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. (It will fall to sixth when New York City’s 432 Park Avenue is completed.) Only a handful of people on the continent have more expansive views.
Possible Deal Breaker: Although some luxury condos come with multiple parking spaces and valet service, this unit doesn’t come with anywhere to leave the Porsche. Anyone with $2 million to spend on a condo could probably afford to buy a space separately, though.
By the Numbers:
• $1,959,000
• 1,855 square feet
• $651 in monthly maintenance fees
• 50-second elevator ride to floor 77
• 10-foot ceilings
• 9 high-speed elevators
• 2 bedrooms
• 2 bathrooms
• 1 den
• 0 parking spaces

A+ for the rude cow laundry caption.
The way the EARTH is very unstable right now, I would never think of living in a Super Hi-Rise Condo ! Just the thought of an Earth-Quake is enough to run goose bumps up & down my back-bone – if you know of what I mean, eh ! ” O U C H “
Was picture 5 really the master bedroom? It looked kind of small, that doesn’t look like a king sized bed. Also, for some reason the bedroom right off the dining room weirds me out, probably just me though.
I’m sure the view from the master bedroom is great but a south east view isn’t going to allow for a lot of sleeping in.
Just to note, Aura Condos has 79 floors (not 78 as mentioned above). Tallest residential tower in Canada!
this is just crazy… no matter how much money I have, I would NOT spend $2mil on a condo and then go find parking, wacko Toronto!! The shape of the building dictates the size of the master bedroom but it almost looks like a kids room, nice bathroom. The maint fee is super low…$2mil furnished as is… yes! THEN I would turn a blind eye to the lack of not even ONE parking space… madness!
Talk about sexy. God damn
Buildings these days are built to withstand earthquakes. Not to mention we don’t really get them, at all, in Toronto.
The view looks awesome
There is parking available for sale in the building at an additional amount. The builder leaves this option open to the purchaser since the individual may only want a single spot, double garage or no parking space at all. This is a pretty common practice in pre-construction sales.
you give that option to the people buying 500sq ft or paying 50% of the cost of this condo.. you don’t insult a $2mil purchase with an additional cost of parking. I may have the $55K to purchase the parking spot but I have never heard of this in pre-construction sale for that price point and Yes, I have purchased twice in pre-construction sales. You don’t wanna nickel and dime this price point purchaser – you would want them to bring back in the family & friends and I would certainly NOT if a builder is gonna ask me to pay additional for parking at that price point.
If this were New York, PLEASE believe this view and penthouse suite would be going for 60 million. Easily. This IMO is dirt cheap. Also i heard Madonna bought the top floor of Aura..
….you give that option….you don’t insult a $2mil purchase…
They just did – and now you have heard of it – it is 2015 – get on with it. Your point is moot, prescient has been set. They do now do what you oppose!
The maintenance fee of $651 will last the lifespan of the average hamster.
That’s not happening.
I’m living in the building right now at 900 sq ft and maintenance is around $530 per month. This unit is going to see at least a grand in maintenance.
I think that’s what he meant. The fees seem unusually low and won’t stay at that amount for long.
total bullshit yuppy crap, fucking wackadoo’s
One of the best areas in town to see the homeless sleeping on the doorstep. Highlighting the vast difference in the fortunes of Canadian citizens.
