“Just because you didn’t see me doesn’t mean I wasn’t there.”

Karen Stintz at Monday’s city council meeting, defending herself in a heated argument with Rob Ford about leadership during December’s ice storm. Was she trying to suggest that she has some kind of invisible aircraft, like Wonder Woman? Alas, no. Stintz had accused Ford of failing to allow deputy mayor Norm Kelly to take charge during the storm. In response, Ford accused Stintz, who is the chair of the TTC, of not personally attending to ice-related transit problems. This was her way of denying that charge. The exchange is already being interpreted as an early shot in the coming mayoral campaign, during which Stintz is expected to be one of Ford’s major opponents.
