Loding, a Parisian boutique with 15 locations in the French capital alone, brings a distinctly European brand of refined ease to Yorkville’s menswear scene. French owners Julien and Marie Moga partnered with Toronto-based Yannick Bigourdan for the company’s first North American store, and are looking to appeal to “the simple man mentality.”

Loding certainly provides a consistent shopping experience. There are no sales, discounts or promotions, and every style of an item is the same price. For example, all shoes are $315, all shirts are $95 and all belts are $80. The prices will never change, even though new styles come in from France every month. For the quality, the cost is more than reasonable. Shoes are all full-grain calf leather with Goodyear soles, shirts are Egyptian cotton (they’ll breathe during the warmer months) and ties are all 100 per cent Italian silk.

The wall of funky cufflinks adds a bit of pizazz to the place. Guys can choose to adorn their suits with anything from flip-flops to floppy discs. We see the cozy home-office feel of the shop appealing to neighbourhood sophisticates or Rosedale dads looking for a comfortable yet classy place to pick up workwear essentials.
