Nada Shepherd says goodbye, not farewell (but it sounds like farewell)
Nada Shepherd announced today that she would be suspending business operations of her line Nada, which means the city will be short not only a Bayview Village dress boutique, but also 3-D movies and flash mobs. “The opportunity just wasn’t there to make that jump to the next level. It was important to me that we remained empowered to make business decisions that were right for us,” says Shepherd, holding on to the idea that a suspension is not an ending.
The Bayview Village location will be closing at the end of this month, and they are really trying to push their inventory with a buy-two-at-60-per-cent-off-and-get-a-third-one-free sale. Shepherd ended her farewell by saying, “It was also important to do this right, respectfully and gracefully. I wanted to make sure we didn’t leave anyone in a bad position and that we maintained the amazing relationships with our vendors, my team and our customers,” but we think savvier business decisions and less commitment to YouTube sensations and flashy off-the-runway fashion presentations might have made for a slow-rising success, and not an abrupt suspension. We hope Nada sees a revival, and when we do, we assume it will catapult the fashion-show-in-a-half-built-hotel trend.
