Vincent Borg, president of Ontario Liberal Party and former Barrick Gold executive vice president, bought his 6,500-square-foot home at 376 Russell Hill Road for $824,000 back in 1996. He stands make quite a return on his investment if he’s able to sell the place for his $4.59 million asking price.

The house, which was listed for sale last week, is in Forest Hill, a few blocks west of Upper Canada College. It has a recently renovated interior with six bedrooms, five bathrooms and a spacious third-floor office and gym. The kidney-shaped backyard pool was evidently a favourite hangout of Bloomberg TV host Amanda Lang, before she and Borg divorced in 2013. (Borg confirmed that Lang no longer has any connection with the house, but he was otherwise unavailable for comment.)

A report from Sotheby’s says the average GTA detached home priced at $4 million or above spent between 60 and 83 days on the market in 2015, and that fewer than 10 per cent sold over list price. But there’s hope: Borg’s neighbour at 315 Russell Hill managed to sell a house on a slightly larger lot for $4.5 million earlier this year.
