Address: 65 Highland Avenue
Neighbourhood: Rosedale Agent: Janet Lindsay, Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited, Brokerage Price: $3,095,000

The Place: A six-bedroom, six-bathroom brick Rosedale mansion, about halfway between Bloor and St. Clair and steps from Rosedale Park.

The History: Originally owned by James Stanley McLean (the meat packing magnate who would go on to found Canada Packers, which is now known as Maple Leaf Foods), this home was built in the early 1910s. The owners, a family who bought the place in 1996, have revamped the kitchen, removed some walls on the third floor and added a wine cellar in the basement.

Big Selling Point: The wine cellar, made with antique brick and stained oak, can house an impressive 1,400 bottles. For less Dionysian buyers, the home’s two driveways, one off Roxborough and one off Highland, mean never having to play parking Tetris with the family cars again.

Possible Deal Breaker: The kitchen, a custom build by Falcon Kitchens, is impressive—but if the buyer’s style is more modern glass and steel than French country chic, they may need to set aside some money for renovations.

By the Numbers:

• $3,095,000 • $20,392.46 • 5,112 square feet (plus 1,612 on the lower level) • 6 bedrooms • 6 bathrooms • 3 fireplaces • 2 driveways • 1 wine cellar
