Put a mirror up to New York City and you may just see Toronto in the reflection. Skyscrapers rise as far as avenues stretch; art and culture are around every corner; students mix with suits; and people from all over the world come and create cities within cities, bringing with them their pasts and their futures. Breathing in the electric air and waterside breeze, some go as far as to call Toronto the “New York of Canada.”

South of the border, New York City has Central Park. In Toronto, we have Downsview Park. Each is the beating pulse of urban life, where residents, visitors and tourists can spend an entire day. Each is a gathering place where people can celebrate their community together. Each has its own landscapes to share a picnic, attend a concert, hike trails, find connection and feel a sense of belonging—but only one is done in true Toronto style.

Since 2012, the vast, open park has drawn people from across the city to its landscaped acres. You can play, find adventure and excitement at Downsview Park. Beyond green space and concert facilities, Downsview is home to sports fields, the Downsview Park Merchants’ Market, K1 Speed go-karting, the Hangar Sport and Events Centre, HoopDome and even a training site for aerospace students.

Formerly the home of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada and the Canadian military, the lands adjacent to Downsview Park are about to be transformed into a nature-centred urban oasis. The lands will be dedicated to parks and open space. New streets, transit routes, bike paths, walking trails and green space will be interwoven throughout the community, connecting to area parks, transit stations, streets and neighbourhoods. It’s a showcase of modern urban planning at its finest.

Taking a bite out of the Big Apple

For Brixen co-founder Alexander D’Orazio, “Downsview Park is like the Central Park of North York. It’s an amazing place that gives you a welcome break from your normal routine.”

Here comes the neighbourhood

Almega and Brixen are proud to offer Toronto homebuyers a brilliant new opportunity and look forward to seeing the neighbourhood transition into a dazzling modern destination. The new condominium is also only a few minutes’ walk from the Sheppard West subway station. This premier connectivity is ideal for those commuting into downtown Toronto for work.

This is just the beginning

In a few short years, Brixen has already made a mark in the GTA building industry, winning the Building Industry and Land Development Association’s highly coveted and prestigious Home Builder of the Year, High-Rise award in 2024. The joint venture between Brixen and Almega will capitalize on each company’s unique capabilities, with this development serving as the cornerstone of their new partnership. Brixen co-founder Andrew Iacobelli says, “This next-level project will benefit from the great synergy of our two companies working together.”

Comparisons with New York aside, Downsview Park, Almega and Brixen epitomize Toronto doing what it does best: thriving.
