A $2-billion lawsuit against Tim Hortons dies, allowing parbaked doughnuts to live on

On Tuesday, Tim Hortons franchisees lost their $2-billion class action suit against the parent company—which means we’re in for parbaked doughnuts for the foreseeable future. See, several years ago, Timmies switched to a deeply paradoxical “always fresh” frozen doughnut system, whereby franchisees buy flash-frozen partially baked items from a centralized plant and finish baking them in store. The new parbaked goodies kind of suck (even Tim Hortons co-founder Ron Joyce thought so), and they cost franchisees double what it cost to bake them from scratch. Their attempts to sue have now been stymied by a judge, who argued that they make a mint off the company’s trademarked coffee and should accept lower margins on food. The media, meanwhile, trotted out some puntastic headlines to mark the occasion. Read the entire story [National Post] »
The donuts suck and I’m not even that impressed with their coffee…even McDonald’s coffee is better!
Timmie’s donuts used to be so good. Now they taste bland and a little off.
Their coffee is nasty… unless you’re dumping in vast amounts of cream and sugar (which I do neither). The doughnuts are sub-par. Country Style’s doughnuts are better. McD’s coffee is the fast food place’s only redeeming quality.
maby ill get enough money to buy a tims and then show them how its done… or not cuz i refuse to ever give the t horts HQ a damn cent especially sice once they find out i may or may not have taken pics and video of the inside and the expired yogurt and other expired food products including milk that was knowingly sold to paying coustomers . no wonder customers are always pissed they pay for gross stuff y they keep going back is beyond me lol. im actually amazed no one has died from that germ infested place
o and the donut like products taste bad bc they r baked 1000 miles away then frozen shiped sit in a not working frezzer for days even weeks then are baked again and if ur lucky ull get a (fresh ) one or maby one that sat in the disply for over 3 4 5 6 7 and even 8 houers i no this bc i worked there ! and after my first day a tim hortons product never touched my lips bc i dont have health insurance and i dont want to die from salmonella
I worked at Tim Hortons As well and I warn everyone dont ever go their. The donuts as we all know are frozen but even worse the breakfast patties and eggs and other food items are also frozen. And even the frozen donuts that are coated by the employees in store are coated with old chocalate and in a dirty tray as well as most of the time by hands which are not that clean. This place has truly turned in a joke like burger king or mcdonalds.
But what saddens me is how bias the media especially in America has reported this story. The media reported by supporting the side of Tim Horton Franchise the people who pushed frozen on us. The mainstream media mainly in the USA clearly love big corporations and bankers.
And even worse the judge is scum his statements were way out of line! The judge was probably paid off or at-least had some kind of bias in the case. And the media just reported all the nonsense the dumb judge said as if it was all true.
I went to Tim Hortons in Canada and asked for a pure vegi soup. The manager including other two workers in the shop told me that it was 100% vegeterian and they are very confident as they make it everyday. I had it and felt a strange taste in it. Later I spoke to someone who also eats vegi only and mentioned that Minestrone soup is not vegeterian. I then checked Tim Hortons website and found that the soup has beef/pork flavouring which totally disturbed me and make me very upset. I called the headoffice several times and they only offered $50 for the incident and they didn’t seem to take it very seriously. This is making me more upset and I want to know what I can do in this situation? I really want to SUE them.

To timmies, thank you for this.
