Few sandwiches have received as much attention as the Double Down, KFC’s grease-fest that features bacon and cheese squeezed between two pieces of boneless fried chicken. Morbidly curious Torontonians interested in trying it, however, were disappointed to learn that their local Colonels were not selling the thing. Well, that’s all about to change. The Double Down will be available in Canada from October 18 to November 14.

A press release about this non-event tells us that 47 per cent of Canadians want to try the artery-clogger while 64 per cent of Canadians think the Double Down should be available here—if not to eat, then to watch their co-workers slowly get fat. See, the sandwich has 540 calories, 30 grams of fat and 1,740 milligrams of sodium. (To compare, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese from McDonald’s has 530 calories, 28 grams of fat and 1,110 milligrams of sodium. A Whopper from Burger King has 670 calories, 40 grams of fat and 970 milligrams of sodium.) Its bunlessness, however, means that Double Down is Atkins approved.

We’ve also been advised that there will be a wall of shfame section on the sandwich’s Facebook page where diners, in what will surely be the finest moment of their lives, can post photos of themselves with the Double Down.

We know what we’ll be giving thanks for this weekend.
