Earlier today, we reported that New York chef David Chang was rumoured to be opening a new restaurant next year at the base of the hotel-condo complex, Shangri-La. We just received word from Chang’s press chief Sue Chan that not one but two Momofuku restaurants will indeed be coming to Toronto next year, although they’ll actually be occupying a neighbouring building.

Chan writes:

Momofuku is indeed opening in Toronto, in a building next to the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto. We are building a Noodle Bar concept on the first floor and a second restaurant (in the same building on another floor) called Momofuku Daisho. The projected opening date is 2012.

Given the flurry of posts and tweets that followed the rumour, it’s probably safe to safe we’re not the only ones excited at the news.
