3-D rum bottles not coming to LCBO
Canada’s national broadcaster may be totally on the 3-D bandwagon, but Ontario’s liquor distributor, not so much. A new spiced rum known as The Kraken will be making its way to the LCBO by spring, but the special limited-edition bottles with 3-D labels won’t be. The slightly bizarre, slightly intriguing 3-D bottles will be available at select stores in the U.S. and on-line, and will apparently come complete with glasses so that The Kraken’s mascot, a giant squid, can be appreciated in all its eye-popping glory.
This time, the LCBO is not holding out on nifty packaging out of a father-knows-best mentality. The board simply didn’t know about the 3-D labels. Too bad, really. The fancy outside of Kraken bottles promise better vision than the contents do. James Cameron, eat your heart out.
