This season, that spirit of togetherness has found a new anchor at The Well, where Volvo has built an immersive winter experience designed to celebrate the holidays with intention—and to remind us that getting there safely is part of what makes the season special.
The space, aptly named Holiday Safely, feels like stepping into a curated Nordic retreat. The environment is inspired by Wintersafe, a Swedish philosophy that reframes winter not as something to endure, but something to embrace—provided you’re prepared.

“We’re excited to bring Volvo’s legacy of safety and care to life this season with Holiday Safely at The Well,” says Andrew Parravano, director of commercial operations at Volvo. “As families navigate ice, snow and the busy holiday season, this activation is designed to remind them that the most memorable traditions begin with getting there safely.”
At the heart of the space sits the Volvo Fika Lounge, a sleek, Scandinavian-designed coffee bar dedicated to the Swedish ritual of pausing for coffee and connection. Staff from Fix Coffee + Bikes, a local favourite at The Well, serve complimentary hot chocolate and coffee during activation hours. It’s a simple moment—a warm drink between cold hands—but one that captures the event’s ethos: slow down, savour the season and reconnect.

With a cup in hand, the full landscape starts to reveal itself—Toronto’s Christmas Market meets Nordic winter activities. One of the standout visual moments is the pair of Volvo Treaded Pines, custom-built pine trees adorned with Michelin winter tires. It’s a striking, artistic reinterpretation of evergreen trees that serves a pointed purpose: a reminder of the importance of Volvo Genuine Winter Wheel Kits, which pair engineering-approved wheels with specially designed winter tires built to perform in challenging conditions. It’s clever, stylish and unmistakably on-theme.

Just steps away, the Volvo Wintersafe Ice Rink stretches out beneath The Well’s dramatic architectural canopy. It’s a natural gathering point—families stopping by between holiday shopping, couples skating under the lights and kids weaving confidently across the ice. The rink is open throughout the season, complete with a Friday Holiday Disco on Ice from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekend skating performances. And the experience doesn’t end in December: every Sunday in January and February, Volvo will host Skate Safely sessions led by instructors from the Central Toronto Skating Club, designed to help families build confidence on the ice.

A special component of Holiday Safely is the Volvo Safety Cage, a photo-worthy steel frame that forms the foundation of Volvo’s cars. Normally, this colourful structure is hidden within the vehicle, engineered to protect passengers during a collision. Here, it’s been reimagined as a Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive drop zone—an open, sculptural invitation for guests to donate new, unwrapped toys.
What makes the Fire Fighter Toy Drive inclusion especially meaningful is the lesser-known reasoning behind the connection. In recent years, pre-production Volvo vehicles brought to Canada for exhibitions are often donated to local fire departments once their showcase life ends. These vehicles are used in hands-on rescue training, helping first responders develop safer, more advanced extraction techniques. It creates a powerful narrative thread: the same engineering designed to protect families on the road is also supporting the people who protect our communities every day.

Of course, the most experiential way to understand Volvo’s safety philosophy is by getting behind the wheel. The experience features a fleet of winter-ready models including the XC90, XC60, XC40 and fully electric EX30—available for on-site test drives. Visitors can take a drive right at the space, offering a firsthand look at how Scandinavian design and advanced safety technology handle Toronto’s snow, slush and everything in between. In the spirit of giving, Volvo will also donate a toy for every test drive taken—another gesture underscoring that safety and community go hand-in-hand.

From the warmth of the Fika Lounge and the generosity of the toy drive, to the glow of the ice rink and the sculptural winter-tire pines, Holiday Safely is a reminder that the holidays aren’t defined by the weather, they’re defined by how we show up for each other. It’s an invitation to step out, enjoy the season and get around safely with the people who matter most.
