Mirage: The 2012 Versailles Gala For this year’s gala and live auction, Baroque opera company Opera Atelier takes inspiration from its April production of Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Armide, a tale of forbidden, Crusades-era romance between a Christian knight and a Muslim princess. Mainly, this means the food will be Moroccan, though a general air of mystery is promised, enhanced by the unconventional setting of the Brick Works’ Holcim Gallery. Find out more »

Schumann and Shostakovich Schumann’s only piano concerto brims over with ardour and joy, an irresistible combo in the hands of American pianist Jonathan Biss. Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 11, a film score in need of a film, is less joyful: it dramatizes the revolutionary events of 1905, including the march on the Winter Palace. Find out more »
