It seems as though there’s a case of Olympic fever at city council, since Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong introduced a motion today that asked city staffers to outline the pros and cons of Toronto hosting the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. This motion, which council voted in favour of, came as an amendment to Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam’s motion to study the possibility of hosting World Expo 2025 in Toronto. The winning city will be determined in 2017, which leaves time to mock up some sample renderings of what our mascots will look like. (We’re just hoping it isn’t anything like Atlanta’s Izzy.)

Yeah sure… oh come on! Do you think the left over buildings etc from the Pan Am games are enough to hold the summer games ? R u people jaded ? Will we have REAL transportation system by then and not a wishy washy TTC braindead city? Will the next mayor after bozo clown Ford is gone , really be strategic to ensure we think outside the box ? Come on! Mr. P, it WILL costs us a load to even think of it!
Not going to happen. The city is run or influenced by too many activists.
Just hope South Africa (Durban) doesn’t bid, otherwise, we’re in for tough competition.
