Apparently, Rob Ford’s executive committee supports a move that would see churches, service agencies, retirement homes and other non-profit organizations paying for garbage pickup. Places like these have long enjoyed the service free of charge, but this is precisely the kind of luxury that the city can’t afford in the Ford administration’s new era of belt tightening. It’s estimated that the change will eventually generate $2.9 million in annual revenue, which, apparently, is also the cost of the executive’s decency. Read the entire story [Toronto Star] »
