Rob Ford reminisces about the time when he was totally awesome

In the face of a flurry of questioning about his leadership, Rob Ford reminded his executive committee of the good ol’ days at city hall when he drastically decreased councillor office budgets. Ford offered the December 2010 vote to reduce individual expense budgets from $50,000 to $30,000 as evidence both of “true leadership” and that city hall is on the right track. And we don’t dispute it—a year-and-a-half ago things really were looking rosy for Ford and co. Today, of course, local columnists are bashing Ford for his disappearing act (even former Ford mouthpiece Adrienne Batra is wondering where the mayor is) and he has been on the losing end of a string of agenda-defining council votes. Still, we’ll concede to Ford that city hall may actually be on the right track. It’s just headed in the other direction. [Toronto Sun]
