QUOTED: Adam Vaughan, on Rob Ford’s legacy

“He was a terrible mayor, the worst mayor the city’s ever had. And the only good thing about today is that as I leave, he’s not around to talk about it.”

—Ward 20 councillor Adam Vaughan, who resigned his seat on Tuesday to run as the Liberal candidate in the Trinity-Spadina federal by-election, leaving city hall reporters with one last acerbic quote to print. Vaughan has been one of Rob Ford’s most vocal opponents over the past four years. Does his past-tense phrasing here mean he thinks the mayor now has no chance of winning re-election? He wouldn’t be the only one.
