Library budget committee proves that it actually isn’t crazy

Members of the library budget committee are unanimous in their opposition to closing branches (phew!). A mystery member of the library board proposed earlier this week that the city close 38 of the city’s 98 branches—but the committee roundly rejected the idea, along with, um, getting rid of computers. Because the city department has yet to meet Rob Ford’s demand for a 10 per cent budget cut, it’ll have to go back to the drawing board to in search of other gravy/efficiencies/unicorns.
