Globe’s home page hijinks: intentional or just hilarious?
Looking at the Globe‘s home page today, we weren’t sure if these sequential snaps of a giraffe, a terrier and Ann Coulter were meant to be read like a mathematical equation, but the results are as eerie as they are insulting (to the animal kingdom).
* UPDATE: globeandmail.com has now updated its home page and removed the Ann Coulter image
This is just perfect. Hahaha… I hope it was intentional.
How appropriate! Ann Coulter uses the first amendment right to justify her bullying of a 17 year old student, amidst Fox news commentaries that suggest Canadians are bereft of the intellectual
sophistication required to embrace the Coulter nastiness as a spring board for freedom of speech debate! I think perhaps that a society supporting free use of language espousing hatred, evidenced by Coulter, and those hurling death threats against members of the House supporting the Health Care Bill, demonstrates a diminished civility, tolerance and humanity that is more suggestive of her (their) evolutionary roots, than of the historical imperative which motivated the American fore fathers to establish the first amendment, intended to act as a shield, rather than a sword.
Coulter is suffering from ‘diminished capacity’. I say good for Ottawa. The disgraced vice president of the U-S, Spiro Agnew had a name for her, and Hannity, and Limbaugh and Levin…”nattering nabobs of negativity”. Demeaning is one thing but devisive is another.
