Sun columnist takes the Globe and Mail to task over garbage reporting

Sue-Ann Levy has chosen her latest target, and it’s not a union leader or a left-leaning councillor. It’s municipal affairs freelance reporter John Lorinc. The Ford spokesperson Toronto Sun columnist is upset by two omissions made by Lorinc in his initial reporting on the winning bidder for Toronto garbage collection: the age of the company’s president and the fact that the deal could save the city $11 million annually. Lorinc’s story for the Globe and Mail initially ran without the $11 million figure, but it now states (under different bylines) “[The winning contractor] is offering closer to $11 million in annual savings.” So, really, all’s well that ends well, we guess. Levy got her angry on, the Globe eventually got the facts right and the city apparently found some gravy. Read the entire piece [Toronto Sun] »
