Rob Ford’s campaign audit: everything you need to know

Now, that Rob Ford is finally ready for his campaign expense audit, there are many questions to answer. Who’s overseeing the audit? What kind of punishment could Ford face if they unearth shady practices? How many chocolate eggs can the mayor toss before throwing out his back? Thankfully, the Toronto Star put together a nice audit primer tackling most of those queries. According to the paper, Froese Forensic Partners will look over Ford’s books and documents and is soliciting help from tipsters. Depending on what they find, Ford could be fined up to $25,000, jailed or removed from office (though those last two are very unlikely). An expert quoted in the story also said that if Ford finds himself in court, the whole process could drag on into 2014—meaning he could still be dealing with headaches from this campaign when the next one is well underway.
